Going Camping

I love planning bridal showers. You can have so much fun with the theme and details.

Over the summer, my sister’s best friend planned a summer camp theme for her sister’s wedding. The bride has been going to the same sleep away camp for over 10 years and met her fiancé there. So a camp theme seemed perfect for the shower.

Here are some of the ways Monica incorporated the theme into the details:

Centerpieces: She bought wooden birdhouses from a craft store and painted them to look like bunks. Each bunk had a (table) number painted on it and was decorated with silk flowers and a candle.

Place cards: Tented cards were decorated with camp themed stickers and labeled “Bunk 1”, “Bunk 2”, etc… instead of “Table 1”, “Table 2”, etc…

Scrapbook: The bridesmaids put together a scrapbook of the bride’s life with the groom over the years, but they called it a Yearbook – just like what you would get on the last day of camp.

Entertainment: In addition to the traditional shower games, Monica wrote a song that she sung with the other bridesmaids. They called it “The Bride’s Alma Mater” – similar to a camp Alma Mater.

Favors: Each guest went home with a pair of Havaianas flip-flops in the color scheme of the shower – pink and brown.

Have you attended a theme shower that had some unique details? Tell us about it. And what about your shower? Are you hoping it has a specific theme with great details and activities for your guests?
