Better Safe Than Sorry

Yesterday a girl who works in the office came by my desk to tell me that she got engaged. After wishing her congratulations I asked to see the ring and before saying how beautiful it is — which it is — I asked her if she had insured the ring.
Her reply, “not yet.”
The reason I asked her about the insurance is that I know a few brides, and wives, who lost or had their ring stolen and did not have insurance on it.
I can’t tell you how important it is to have your ring insured. If you have a homeowner’s policy, simply call your insurance company and ask to add your ring to it. If you’re still living with your parents then get on their homeowner’s policy. You can also get a separate policy just for your ring. Your policy rate will depend on the value/appraisal of your ring. You can ask your jeweler to recommend an appraiser or the insurance company can recommend someone.
No matter what the cost of an insurance policy, the knowledge that if g-d forbid something happens to it you’re insured and you can get your money back and buy another one is, that's right, priceless.
