3-Day Weekend Weddings

Since the office is closed today for President’s Day I started thinking about all the other 3-day weekends – MLK Jr Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day – the 4th of July can be a 4 or 5-day weekend and Thanksgiving is always 4 days.

Many couples like 3-day weekends for their wedding because you can have your reception on Sunday and not worry that your guests will have to leave early so they can get up for work on Monday morning.  However you do need to think of your guests when picking a Sunday evening on a 3-day weekend for your wedding.

Some 3-day weekends are very popular vacation weekends.  So if you want to get hitched Labor Day or Memorial Day weekend, you should ask your most important guests – immediate family and close friends –if that particular weekend will work for them.  You don’t have to check with all of your guests but just those you don’t want to get married without.

I'm on the fence about weddings on Thanksgiving Day weekend.  It's a weekend that people go home to see their families so if you have a lot of guests that will have to travel to your wedding you may want to re-think a wedding this particular weekend.  But of course if you check with the most important guests on your list and they tell you they'll be there, then go ahead and books the hall.

Hope you're enjoying the day off!

I have to say, your blog has really sucked since you switched over to this ivillage thing. I keep checking in, incase it's returned to it's old splendor, but alas... it doesn't seem like it will. More of a fresh take on things please, and certainly more pictures... too much boring text.
