Fit & Flatter
As I'm sure you already know, your underwear can help lift and shape your body in the clothes you're wearing. When shopping for undergarments for your wedding dress, it's important that you find a bra that is both comfortable and flatters your figure.
I find that if the salon where you bought your dress sells strapless bras, bras with convertible straps and other styles, it's best to try on and purchase a bra there, because you are able to try on different bra styles with your dress. If you go to any lingerie store and buy a bra you think will work, you may find out at your first fitting that the bra you bought is not comfortable when you have your gown on or it bulges in some places or the top or back of the bra is showing.
If you do buy a bra at a lingerie store - either online or at a brick and mortar shop - it's important to find out the store's return policy, keep the tags on the bra and most importantly, keep your receipts. You may also want to get more than one style so you can try a few options at your first fitting. If you end up with a store credit, I'm sure you could find something sexy for your honeymoon.
You don't need to bring a special type of bra with you when you're shopping for a dress. The bridal salon you are at should supply you with a strapless bra for trying. Once you decide on a dress ask the store what type of bra you should get, and make sure you have it with you for your first fitting. When you buy your dress ask the salesperson at the salon if they carry the bra you need and buy it from them.
To help you find the perfect bra for your wedding - and for any other occasion - iVillage's Beauty & Style site just launched a Bra Finder Tool to help you find the right bra for your wedding, a night out, romance/honeymoon, workouts and everyday.
