Over the Top Proposals

I spoke to a friend of mine the other day and she told me that she got a press release stating that the latest trend in weddings is an over the top proposal.  Men spending an average of $10,000 on top of what they spent on an engagement ring.  I just couldn't believe this, and wanted to know what all of you think.

Is it really important for your hubby-to-be to come up with a unique proposal idea?  Or is just getting down on one knee and asking the simple question, "Will you marry me?" enough?

I think I would have said yes to Dave if he asked me to marry him anywhere - in the car, on the train, in the kitchen, in my pajamas - I just couldn't wait to get engaged.

While I appreciate the thought and time and effort that would go into such a grand proposal, I was just as happy when my fiance took a knee about ten seconds after I walked in his door after a long day. He decided that I'm too difficult to surprise, and he's mostly right. It didn't really matter to me.
